It was Edgar Cayce who popularized the use of castor oil as an anti-inflammatory. I have been using it successfully to treat both plugs and mastitis for many years. I also use it to treat "colic"--just place the compress inside the onesie and leave it there. We have a microwave oven in our bathroom (the only use for it in our household is for "packs") --b/c castor oil packs are the response we've always had to any tummy ache.
