I watched a movie last night about the life of Paul Fleiss,M.D. (one of the
advisors on
LLL's Medical advisory board). The opening scene showed him in his office
doing a well
baby check and praising the parents for their decision to BF.

There are several references to BFing throughout the movie (including his
statement that
Hitler was not Breastfed).

Also, at a political fundraiser at his home, a woman approached Dr. Fleiss
and also
Dr. Spock who was sitting with him, and was concerned that she may be
spoiling her
son by not allowing him to "cry it out". Dr. Spock quickly replied that it
was impossible
to spoil an infant. Dr. Fleiss added that if she forces her son to "cry it
out" that" she
will only be teaching him that she cannot be bothered when he needs her."

Regardless, of how one may feel about the Fleiss family and their situation
it was
a thoughtful and sensitive movie and I appreciated the encouragement of
breastfeeding
and responding to the needs of your child.
