Intro first-Liz Biesemeyer,I live in rural mid-missouri,IBCLC since 1992,
Three kids all breastfed, I work in a hospital as a L&D nurse and teach
breastfeeding class.
Problem referred from another LC. Mom with a 7 month old, no bottles,
some solids. 5 weeks ago had a plugged duct, doing warm packs, decided
to "open" duct at nipple by inserting a needle. Now plugged duct is
resolved but 45 minutes after feeding feels sharp "knifelike" pain in the
same breast. This has occured since she "opened" the duct. Has been
seen by MD to rule out infection, trush etc. Any ideas or treatment
ideas? Mom currently using tylenol and ice packs.
