Karleen and others who may be curious -

The sample does in fact have bf duration up to and including the 35 mo
cut off for inclusion in the study, for purposes of retaining
confidentiality for posting the data to the public site, however, we had
to make a determination to truncate reports at 18 months, because after
that point the numbers get very very small. We have been considering
doing further analyses on the >18 mo range but were at a significant
time crunch to get the data out for WBW and thus weren't able to get to
it before the public release.

Another point of interest, some felt that we should truncate at 12
months but I and some others argued vehemently that we needed at least
up to 18 months to be able to show that indeed this is happening and
many children bf far beyond then and this is normal and good and should
be championed.

I hope this helps.

Katherine

Katherine,
They mention that the survey had respondants with children up to 35
months of age but breastfeeding incidence is only recorded up to 18
months do you know if they have data on incidence of bf beyond 18
months? Karleen
