I know this is getting off-topic, but thanks to Kathy for her insights. I
always am both amused and disturbed when Oprah takes on the "horrible
problem" of lack of sexual interest among married American women. At one
point, she said that 40 million American women report having this "problem."
I was thinking, "If this many people feel this way, isn't that a clue that
it's normal as opposed to pathological?"

To be a bit on-topic, I observe that many of those who appear on Oprah to
discuss this "problem" are mothers of young children. A couple of times,
Oprah has had on her show sisters -- one a psychologist and one an MD -- who
are experts on "female sexual dysfunction" and they assert that after the
second pregnancy, women often have various hormonal "deficits" that lead to
decreased sexual interest. These docs then proceed to pull out all manner
of creams and gadgets designed to make these busy moms more interested in
and satisfied by sex.
