Dear Friends:
In the USA, elective induction has become a new norm. I have worked with
only one mother in the past 6 months that hasn't had pitocin used in their
labor. If it isn't for induction, it is for augmentation because the pain
meds slow the labor.
One more barrier to overcome with breastfeeding: the pitted baby who is
wiped out after labor, who is more likely to be jaundiced, and who is more
likely to have some birth injury as a result of the operative delivery
because of the epidural.
Routine technology makes birth dangerous for mother and baby and is a
major risk factor for premature weaning.
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE, craniosacral therapy
