BF Answer Book says BF may only be interrupted for a few hours.  There is 
research that shows stitches are not at risk of being disturbed, even if 
baby begins breastfeeding again as he leaves the recovery room!

BF answer book says if mother is uncomfortable with this to share the 
studies with him

Cleft palate surgery usually takes place between 1-2 years.and resumption of 
breastfeeding seems to depend on baby's level of comfort.  Pat in SNJ
