Fio,
Ds number two was conceived at 27 months post partum - had been to a
fertility specialist who informed me I couldn't becomes pg until I weaned my
oldest...interestingly I was pg at that exam...something lost on this
practitioner. Number 1 (currently 17) breastfed almost nearly thru the
pregnancy - I was in misery with extreme nipple sensitivity and sickness, a
negotiated weaning took place at approx. 33 months and his brother was born 2
1/2 weeks after his 3rd birthday - full term. DD was conceived at 37 months
pp and born full term when her brother was 46 months and breastfed throughout
the pregnancy - the nipple issue was easier with the third pregnancy. Both
continued to breastfeed in tandem until negotiated weaning of ds #2 at 66
months ( he's 14 next week and would likely still be nursing if not gently
guided in other directions - LOL.) One of my fondest memories is at day 3 pp
after the arrival of Dd, Ds #2 HAD to nurse, climbed into my lap, his eyes
got big as saucers and he said between sucks, "The milk is back!" Strangely
enough no supply nor engorgement issues. (tongue firmly implanted in cheek
there) The youngest (current age 10) weaned at 66 months after inquiring if
she could continue breastfeeding indefinitely - made no difference to me; I
was fine with whatever she wanted to do - so she stopped on her own about a
week later.
Great memories - have enjoyed the posts on this topic.
