I used to do home visits within 24 hours after a 24 hour "short" stay. The
next visit was 2 days later. I typically saw a slight weight loss from
birth weight on day 2 and expected to see birth weight or gain by day 4. If
not-something was wrong with milk transfer (baby, suck, mom, supply etc etc
etc.) This was very consistent, also all levels of financial backgrounds,
different races etc. I truly think if mother and baby are not separated this
is what we should be seeing. Pat in SNJ
