As I recall, Linda Smith's preparatory text w/CD for the last IBLCE exam
had a photo of a woman breastfeeding while eating a bowl of cantaloupe
slices.  The accompanying text said that her milk did smell of
cantaloupe.  Sorry not to have the exact ref at fingertips, will dig it up
if you need me to.
Also, as a general principle, I understand that essential oils pass right
into the milk, so anything in that category has more effect on the taste
than, say, most veggies, meats etc.
My son went on a nursing strike 8 yrs ago when we traveled to stay with
family for Christmas when he was 13 months old.  At first I thought it was
travel/stuffy nose or some such but that never really made sense to me, I
was just guessing based on the list of usual suspects.  It was a year
before I read that tidbit about essential oils and remembered the entire
box of chocolate-covered *peppermint* candies I had engulfed that same
day.  (My father-in-law gets in a supply when I'm coming.)  My son hated
peppermint (toothpaste, candy) for another 2-3 years at least.
