For Jeanette Panchula:
Several faculty members from Georgetown U. were here in Madison, WI last
week to give a breastfeeding course. I asked them where the schema can be
obtained. Vergie Hughes said to request it from the Institute for
Reproductive Health, Georgetown U. Medical Center, Washington, DC 20007.
In regard to epidurals, she mentioned an interesting observation. They
were noticing many mothers with flat nipples after epidurals, meaning
babies were having a harder time latching on, causing more incidence of
jaundice. They raised the question - Do epidurals relax the nipple tissue,
leading to more flat nipples in mothers? (Aside from the problems of
babies with disrupted sucking).
