I think the suggestion that Grekin might (or should) be deluged with phone calls has to do with his choice of the word "vestigial".   Britannica-Webster defines vestige as "a visible sign left by something vanished or lost", or "a small and imperfectly developed body part or organ...".  In fact, this is not a correct description of the female genitalia, and I agree that it smacks of inferiority/abnormality (not the reality that the female anatomy is the "basic mammalian body plan").  He just sounded too darned Freudian, which I would guess is what annoyed the reader.  Perhaps he should have said "a penis is basically an overgrown (overblown?) clitoris..."
PS: LOVED your quote from the Playboy article!  Now let's see...where can I use that?...
