Hi Marie:

I had one almost identical to your when I was an in-house LC. I ache for
you, as I imagine you feel that your professionalism has been questioned
(assaulted?) and that your personal skills have been called into question.

Everything I've read from you here on L-Net speaks to high professionalism
and caring on your part. Your patient, on the other hand, from the little
snippet you shared, sounds troubled.

I was asked in an interview for a teaching position today how I would handle
what they term a "wounded student". Sounds like your patient is pretty out
of control, confused, and generally unable to assertively order her life.
 This is not your fault.

We've had some discussion here about patients with various "issues". Maybe
we as a profession need to be better prepared to deal with the (many) clients
who present to us with much more than breastfeeding problems.

You are talented. Your skills are valid. This is not about you.
Hang in.......Nancy
