Hello fellow Lactnet-ers
This is my first posting to this amazing network. I have read the
postings a
few times and have finally signed up, and am blown away by the vast
range of
experiences and knowledge out there!
I'm a midwife and am taking the IBCLC exam this July, so am trying to
study
hard!
I take childbirth education classes and hope to begin a bf class late
this
year, and am involved with education to teenagers in schools thru the NZ

well-child provider.
I am not working much as a midwife as we have 3 young sons, the youngest

Jacob being almost 8 months and happily nursing.

I am reading the comments on lecithin with interest as I have sometimes
mentioned it to mothers and have had problems with blocked ducts myself.

However, I think that,in my own nursing experience, blocked ducts are a
reaction to a mechanical problem eg too tight a bra, or squeezing into a

dress, or missing a feed or sometimes even unusual activity like
waterblasting or similiar. The lecithin I eat each day in my own
homemade bread
hasn't helped, but being very prompt at treating *any* slightly sore
area or
bruised feeling does help.

Looking forward to many happy hours of immersing myself in my favourite
topic!
