> QUENCHER milk??

Well, I certainly noticed myself how when I was very VERY engorged (I
looked like a 1/2 football) one day after not nursing all night on that
breast due to a small nipple injury, around about 3-4 weeks postpartum
(still producing tonnes and tonnes and litres and litres of milk) that
what came out for the first few minutes when I was hand-expressing into
the sink (baby didn't want it, I had to get rid of it, had no pump,
etc.!) was a liquid that very closely ressembled water. Slightly cloudy
water perhaps. The Gatorade sports drinks have one that is
clear-coloured (i.e. no-coloured) that is lemon flavoured I think. It
is ALMOST transparent, but is borderline translucent (i.e. you can't
QUITE see through it completely). My "quencher" milk ressembled this
pretty closely, and was very salty! ;-) As I got a bit further into
the breast, the milk took on a "skim milk" look to it: blue-ish and not
very fatty, but opaque nonetheless. When I felt sufficiantly empty, the
milk had taken on that creamy-yellow fatty look to it.

Took me about 40 minutes to get there! :-P

So, I can sort of see the image of "quencher" milk. Almost water (lots
of mineral salts probably?). I've always referred to foremilk (or
perhaps quencher milk IS a better term, LOL) as "Baby's natural
Gatorade" (or pedialyte!).

Fio.
