In response to the post about noticing mastitis more frequently, I'm wondering if it could be explained by a combination of culture and increased breastfeeding rates. This is simply musing...

Perhaps in years past one did not see as many women with mastitis becasue they simply quit nursing rather than coming in for help. With increased iniation rates and better education on the importance of breastfeeding, I think more women are attempting to make breastfeeding work for them.

And, yes, I think the love of pumping as well as scheduled feedings come in to play, as well.
