I didn't see the original post but can add my own anecdotal about 
breastMILK helping in the healing process.  Two of my children had heart 
surgery to repair a defect and my son's was a more serious procedure 
than my daughter's.  We were told two to three days in hospital - two in 
ICU and one in a regular ward.  Well, 24 hours after the surgery was 
done, he was being discharged.  He was five months old at the time and I 
nursed him a lot in the ICU (got permission to spend the night at his 
bedside and held him and nursed him all night).  Also, when the RN 
wasn't in the room, I put expressed milk on his incision (which was 
taped shut as opposed to stitched).  I remember Dr. Bailey saying how 
this was one of the fastest healing incisions he'd ever seen when he 
surprised himself with discharging my son two days early.  I've also had 
friends who have already weaned their toddlers ask me for a donation of 
EBM to freeze and put on rashes and such forth.
