I would not personally EVER suggest consuming diet sodas (soda period are
difficult enough) but the artificial sweeteners have been known to cause
horrible side effects in children and there is no indication to date that it
is not transfered into breast milk.  As far as sodas in general (sweetened
or not) the soda actually leaches calcium from the body.  It is best to stay
as far away from sodas as possible, especially during pregnancy and
breastfeeding.  Toddlers should not drink it ever.
