Niki and all: Thanks for the warm welcome back! I actually didn't go
anywhere just ahve been enormously busy working on and completing my
PhD...

As to the gape, it is extremely important that parents elicit a full
root. Of course, drugged babies do not do this well. The gape will be
lost if the finger feeding individual fails to consistently elicit the
gape. Fortunately, it can be cultivated once lost until it is
integrated at about three months.

As to evidence for finger feeding as a method; the Australian study is
the only offical study I know of. We need more research on the method
to be sure. The FDA required saftey and efficacy studies on my device
so it has been proven to be safe and effective. It would be great to
have Hartman and Hale do a study on finger feeding as a method wouldn't
it!?
