I wrote to Beadie:

Could this be one of those situations where the enzymes in mother's milk
have started predigesting it, changing it to an unfamiliar/unpleasant
taste while it sits for hours, even though refrigerated, between pumping
and feeding?

This was news to me, but it was discussed more than once in the last few
months, and I believe there were references given from either R&A or
Lawrence or both.

I believe the solution to such a problem had something to do with heating
the milk right after pumping, to a certain temperature to destroy that
particular enzyme. She could test it by leaving a bottle of her pumped
milk in her own refrigerator the same length of time between pumping and
smelling/tasting it herself to see if the taste has really changed that
much.

And she could also then try having her husband (or you) try to feed it to
the baby and see the baby's reaction. Maybe that would be a wise thing to
do before confronting the staff, in case the baby's refusal is based on
such a taste change.
