Dear Jeanne,
Thank you and everyone who has written for your understanding about the
failure to thrive baby that was so scheduled (a la Ezzo). I am still
depressed over this poor mother and baby. I know the baby will be fed now,
but breastfeeding is about lost, and I doubt she will ever let me know what
happens. It grieves me that this mother does not know what she is missing.
My 22 yr old, 6 ft. 3 in. son came home last week with his lovely girlfirend.
They came in the door. He picked me up off my feet, kissed me and said "I
love you Mom" in front of her. I don't say this to brag, (although my chest
is quite puffed up right now) but somehow I don't feel like that little baby
is going to feel that way about his mother (especially in front of his
girlfriend) when he is 22.
You are right Jeanne. People need to see good, loving, attachment parenting
modeled. If you don't believe in being with your baby, breastfeeding is not
as likely to succeed.
I refer every mom I can to La Leche League, but many won't go.
All many new parents seem to see are the bad kids. They are so fearful their
children will turn out like monsters they feel they have to have super tight
control from birth--therefore the scheduled type of parenting sounds like the
perfect solution. Get control, then keep it and you'll win as a parent.
I pity the children,
Sadly,

Yes Pat, I would love to have Anne's little boy for a while. He sounds
delightful and would cheer anybody up! Give him a squeeze from all of us
Anne!
