Didn't know if anyone had heard about this new dug, I first heard about it
in rounds this past week:

http://talactoferrin.com/

It's a human milk derivative and is in clinical trials evaluating its use in
certain cancers, sepsis, and wound healing in diabetic foot ulcers. I'm
currently rotating through our ICU (intensive care unit) and just learned
that our hospital is one of the centers investigating it in patients with
sepsis. Our other novel drug for sepsis, Xigris, can cause bleeding and
other problems, but talactoferrin has so far been shown to be quite safe
(it's given orally and works through the gut). How cool is that??? :)
