Isn't Lacnet great! When I first "latched on to Lactnet", I did not
think it would be a place of cultivating new friendships, but it has.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of meeting and spending some
time with a fellow Lactnut and his family. Dr. Jon Ahrendsen of Iowa is
here in Hawai'i for a conference on Maui. He and his family spent some
time on O'ahu before going on to Maui. His wife Becky is an RN/IBCLC/DA
for LLL, so we had plenty to talk about. They have three beautiful
children. All of our children got along well (thank goodness :D), and my
oldest truly enjoyed having two big sisters around. Prior to all of us
meeting, it had been an e-mail friendship, but upon meeting, it was as if
we had known each other for quite some time.

Dr. Ahrendsen graciously offered to speak at our LLL meeting on the
Advantages of Breastfeeding. We normally have a large group---20-25
moms/pregnant women, but I know we surpassed that number. It was great!
The presentation he gave was very informative not to mention that he was
able to say things that I as a leader would like to but cannot. Both our
core moms and first timers enjoyed the presentation.

All this came about due to Lactnet. Not only have I learned so much and
continue to learn everyday from this wise collective, but I have made
many friends as well------1600? :)

Aloha,
Gloria Thai LLLLeader Hawai'i
