Katie Dunning feels the lack of a bodily decoration with the ability to
detect a satiated baby. I can indeed attest to the insufficiency of her son
at dealing with her milk supply, after having sat next to her (and him, in
sling) during the IBLCE exam committee meeting at the end of October this
year. None of us got much exercise during the days the meeting lasted, but
I think he gained the most weight, despite his best efforts to jettison
whatever milk he really didn't need. Maybe a large tarpaulin would serve
you better, Katie!

I don't think a bracelet would do it, somehow. And as Katie notes, when it
matters which side to use, the mother can tell without the help of a
bracelet. If the only way she can tell which side to use is by where the
bracelet is, what does it matter? And if Katie, who has ample good
breastfeeding experience AND was the highest scorer ever on The Exam, can't
prevent her baby from taking in more milk than he can digest at one time,
why should we expect anyone else to manage it either?

I guess I am biased against gadgets like this for lots of reasons: most of
us own enough things already; BF is not simplified by the addition of a
bracelet; and personally I have more trouble recalling how to use all
memory-jogging devices than I do remembering the thing itself in the first
place. This applies especially to mnemonic devices based on clever
acronyms, to which my brain responds as does Teflon to dried food remains.
As long as someone remembers to breastfeed the baby, I'm happy.

Speaking of dried food remains, it's too bad I wasn't wearing a pair of
Teflon pants that evening at dinner. Glad it wasn't formula!!
