Dear Friends,
In our hospital we have a protocal of giving newborns 2 ml of sucrose water
before painful procedures like heel sticks. I am wondering about the effect
of sucrose on the baby's gut flora.  I personally have a hard time giving
anything to an exclusively breastfed baby besides breast milk.
