Here's a little snippet of news I found interesting:
Should DHA and AA be approved by the FDA, the key issue is whether parents
will pay a higher price for fortified formula. Formula isn't cheap, costing
around $4 for a premixed quart can, an amount consumed by many babies in a
day. Formula supplemented with Martek's oils is expected to be 10%-15% more
expensive, with Martek and the formula companies roughly splitting the
premium.

Linsert is encouraged that in such markets as Hong Kong and the Philippines,
many parents are paying extra for the enhanced formula, which costs about
$70-$80 a year more than the standard variety. The Martek CEO argues that
the added cost works out to $10 per IQ point, an amount he deems trivial.

If the FDA grants approval to DHA and AA this year, enhanced formula could
be on the market in 2001. And investors in Martek's shares could be feeling
smarter, too.
