I have allergies and used benydral sparingly at first. I found it to affect
my milk supply and made me much to groggy to tend to my baby. I switched to
claritin which worked well and did not make me groggy, however, when my
daughter turned 2 I had a big problem with hives (every day for many months) the
zyrtec worked and I noticed no supply problems. My daughter was still nursing
quite often (about 6-8 times per day).

Sounds to me like this mom may just not be nursing her newborn enough.
Allergies, sleep deprivation and taking med's may be affecting her as a new mom.
