My name is Ann Gorrell, RN, BSN, CLE, and IBCLC. I have been lurking for an
extended period of time and now I'm coming on board. I work at Kaiser, South
Sacramento, as the RN/LC for a 2 year old "new" 13 bed LDRP unit. I work with
antepartum, postpartum, special care nursery and Home Visit Program patients.
I work 32 hours/week now, for the first 2 years I set up and worked 40+hour
position to support all the moms. (Burn out was right around the corner.)
Since Nov 1995 I am working with another RN LE in a 24 hour postion with 7 day
a week coverage for our facility. We actually see any and all Kaiser eligible
patients, and about 25% of my consults are not primary South Sacramento
patients. We have an interface program with both of the local WIC programs.
WIC Peer counselors come into the facility and support our families from
birth. Families have the option of coming to see me or the LC's in the WIC
program for help. Our unit has the Certificate of Intent to the Global
Principles of the WHO-UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital Iniative.
I have relly enjoyed the Lactnet over the past several months, thanks for all
the great info!!!!!
