One reason for high platelets could be a rare myoproliferative disease where the bone marrow is overactive in making blood. This would not be a reason to wean.

I previously posted to this list looking for others with experience working with moms with one of these deseases during pregnancy and lactation, but I received no feedback.

If the diagnoses turns out to be is ET  (Essential Thrombosis), PV (Polcythemia Vera) or any other MPD, contact me privately and I will provide the address for a support group on the web.
