In introducing hospital staff to skin to skin holding at birth,
another useful resource is the work done by Carol Melcher, RN, MPH,
Director of the Perinatal Services at Loma Linda University Medical
Center in California. She has lots of experience training hospital
staff in this area and has spoken at several ILCA conferences on this
topic.

See the poster for staff at the S.O.F.T. web site: http://www.llu.edu/

These could be handed out or posted. You can click on "About Us" and
then on "Meet our Staff" for contact information.

Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute used to have a beautiful 20
minute long video for health professionals and parents with a
sequence of still photos of the breast crawl. It was titled "Amazing
Talents of the Newborn" and featured Marshall Klaus. It was very
supportive of breastfeeding and contained no bottles or pacifiers and
lots of breastfeeding. One section is called "The First Hour" and
the message is, "From the moment of birth the newborn is able to
observe and be an active participant in his world." There is a
separate section on breastfeeding, too. Sadly, I think the video is
no longer available, but maybe you could find someone with an old
copy. The title comes up when you Google it, but everyone seems to
be citing it or looking for a copy.

The Lennart Righard "Delivery Self Attachment" video is only 5
minutes long. It is easily available from amazon.com
as well as from Kittie Frantz at http://www.geddesproduction.com/
breast-feeding-delivery-selfattachment.php

Previous discussions on Lactnet have aired varying reactions to its
use in classes. You have to see what will best fit your particular
audience's needs.

(I have no financial interest in any of these resources.)
