This study just released by New England Journal of Medicine:
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/345/23/1660?query=TOC
The study concludes that giving fluconazole to preterm infants to prevent
fungal infections common in NICU's led to reduced fungal infection with no
increased risk to the infant. These are very low weight preterm infants
receiving high doses of Diflucan. I think this study will come in handy
for those moms needing Diflucan for nipple yeast, but the physician is
concerned about fluconazole transfer into the mother's milk.
