Before menstruation, women have a drop in estrogen levels, which is very
profoundly felt in some women. This is believed to be the caues of many
women's pre-menstrual migraines. In other cases, it could be the
progesterone causing their pms. Also, the effects that prostaglandins have
on many women can be devastating to their function.

I have had great successes in this area by doing a thorough history
including whether they are experiencing vaginal dryness, extreme cramping
with menses (including clotting), headaches, supply problems, etc. Then one
can make educated suggestions. For example, if migraines are a problem (and
they frequently are with nipple spasm/pain women) then a combination of
magnesium (600 mg), B2 (400 mg), vitex (chaste tree), wild yam, dong quai,
black cohosh, and EPAs might be helpful. It is essential that the symptoms
be more defined or you could make things worse.
