Dear Readers:
I have a question?? A preterm is being fed by gavage tube. Would you
recommend to the nursing staff that the available breastmilk be divided
equally between all feedings in order for the
infant to receive breastmilk and some formula at each feeding or that the
infant have two or three feedings that are soley breastmilk?
I know that additional nutrients are added to the formula, so I am guessing
both should be given together unless the breastmilk has
all the nutrients that is needed for this premie.
Thanking you in advance.
Paula Livingston
