I have absolute faith in breastfeeding. I have no faith in the western diets
w/ which I am familiar.

<< Clearly we were meant to be breastfed, so what is the pattern when babies
are

breastfeeding well? That, by definition, would be normal. >>

I don't think so. My youngest son was bf'ing well--gaining weight well and
growing. He was very happy, calm and content. He was born at home and saw a
chiropractor the next day. After a few weeks, he was not stooling
normally--skipping days and even a week. I removed soy from my diet, but it
didn't fully resolve. I took him to a homeopath and within 20 minutes of
getting the remedy, he pooped and pooped normally (about 6 times per day)
from then on. IMO, I relied way too much on soy during my pregnancy
(something I had never done with my other kids) and he was very
sensitive--even removing it from my diet was not enough to rebalance his
body. I have seen this same scenario play out over and over again with other
families--homeopathy and bodywork are the most effective.

<<Second, you

would have to prove that infrequent stooling causes harm. >>

If it causes harm in children and adults (note the high rates of colon cancer
and other gut disorders), then it causes harm in children. We know that AIM
causes constipation to some degree in the majority of babies (and we know it
is not normal), but whan a bf baby is constipated, we excuse it and call it
normal. That makes no sense to me.

<<Third, you'd have

to show that your intervention to increase the stools could be done as part

of the natural pattern of breastfeeding, itself causing no harm. This would

exclude giving anything else by mouth or inserting anything in the rectum.>>

Absolutely. The objective is not to make the baby stool, but rather to allow
the baby to stool.

<<Setting aside points one and two for the moment, I am curious as to how

stooling frequency can be increased in the breastfed baby without giving

anything by mouth or inserting anything in the rectum. Do you put them on

an exercise program? How successful is your intervention?>>

As stated in a prior post--homeopathy, CST, chiropractic and PT are very
effective. I bet acupuncture (non-insertive) would work, too.
