Before everybody gets sick of this "fluff" topic I wanted to share my
experience of talking to a very famous author about his portrayal of BF.  I
chaired a benefit luncheon for the Scottsdale Public Library last year and
Larry McMurtry ("Last Picture Show", "Terms of Endearment", "Lonesome Dove")
was our guest speaker/honoree.  As chairperson, I sat with Larry and told him
that one of the things I liked about his books was that "he wrote about BF as
though it were actually a normal part of life".  He gave me a little smile
that told me he understood exactly what I meant.  We then went on to talk
about BF related things like why LCs are needed in this culture and toddler
nursing (which he portrays in a few of his books).  When I expressed my
surprise that he would be familiar with this practice (he's in his late 50's
and has one grown son), he said he has friends who have, for instance, he
said,  his friend Cybill Shepard nursed her twins for over 2 years!  His
partner who was with him then asked if I could refer her to a good LC in
another city for her sister who  was pregnant which of course I was very
happy to do.

Oh, yeah, we talked about books too.
