does anyone else "ask" or perhaps Announce is a better word - before doing
something? such as, i would like to let the Baby suck on my finger so i can
feel what is happening, or, i would like to look at the Baby's mouth while she
is nursing, do you mind if i take a look? i too tend to want to be more hands
on, but try to size up mother and baby before i sit too close or grab the
Baby.

of course, getting to hold the Baby is the main thing but i attempt to show
restraint.
