Dear Friends:

We've established that pacifiers may be useful to calm a baby when mom has
oversupply, or for a premie in the intensive care nursery. (I am not
convinced about the SIDS connection, though, as I have too many questions.
When a baby goes to sleep, the pacifier falls out of its mouth with the
relaxation....so how does that help?")

My question remains: How do we teach mothers to use pacifiers? What shape?
When? Where? How long?

warmly,

Nikki Lee RN, BSN, Mother of 2, MS, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI
