Do "made for tv" movies count? Yesterday afternoon, while flipping channels,
I came across "Maternal Instincts" (Made for cable thriller-1996, starring
Delta Burke). It was a pretty crummy movie about a childless woman who had a
emergency hysterectomy without her consent. She then went on to seek revenge
against the infertility specialist who did the surgery. (I only watched about
10 minutes--I got this from TV Guide!) The part I did see was the woman and
her friend in a restaurant discussing how she would never be able to have
children. She watched a mother come into the restaurant with her child (who
at first glance appeared to be over a year old-it was a big baby), sit at a
table and breastfeed. They cut back to Delta staring longingly at the
nursing mother with tears running down her face.
