Just want to say publicly that I agree with Barbara Wilson-Clay and Jan
Barger re IBCLC is the gold standard. As a profession emerges, it changes.
Florence Nighingale was the "mother of nursing" but she didn't have an RN
license or BSN degree. Neonatal nurse practitioners could take certif.
programs now take graduate level education.

Sometimes, no often, I am jealous of others who have employers who pay for
their conference attendance and all. I never had that advantage, but still I
saved the money. I drove from New Orleans to Atlanta in 1992 to sit the
exam. After I had put myself thru grad school. No it is not easy, but it can
be done. You can do it. For about $400 I think, save about $8 per week and
you will have $416 in 1 year! You can still put your kids first too.

I've even been to 2 ILCA conferences over the past 7 yrs (one I was a
scholarship recipient and the other was in my hometown - I got lucky on that
one.)  We really want knowledgeable, committed, passionate folks to join our
ranks, and with integrity and ethics like you guys. Just do it!
