I've been thinking about all the "wean because of this drug" advice mom's get.
If this incorrect advice is from pediatricians or family docs who see babies then its pretty sad they give incorrect advise.
If its from adult specialist I cant see how they justify any comment on the issue. This IMO is advising on infant nutrition/health issues and beyond the scope of practice of an internal medicine specialist or anyone who doesnt see children.
On a better note I'm starting to get calls from internist about the safety of meds they are puttong moms on. Some are easy eg cephalexin, others I need to look-up eg mesalamine.
No one asks the other side of the question, is it OK to formula feed this baby? Thats an easy answer especially since have the children I'm seeing lately have influenza A and the other have have RSV!
