2007 LLLI Alumnae Association Awards, Founders Tea, Fashion Show!

The La Leche League Alumnae Association is pleased to announce the
recipients of the 2007 Alumnae Award: Barbara Parker, Martha Sears
and Marian Tompson. Each of these women exemplifies the qualities in
the award criteria. Each one has demonstrated courage and passion as
they have worked for societal change. Barbara, Martha, and Marian
make it clear that the passion and ability for their work was born
out of a passion for La Leche League. By having the courage to take a
stand against cultural norms, they have changed the hearts and minds
of their own family members and countless others in the world.

Barbara Parker, a retired LLL Leader, was diagnosed with two primary
breast cancers in 1990 and has been a leader in the development of
research and patient advocacy for breast cancer for the past seventeen years.

Martha Sears, a LLL Leader for over 25 years, is the co-author of 24
parenting books that have been translated into over 12 languages and
has advocated for breastfeeding and attachment parenting throughout
the world in many and varied arenas.

Marian Tompson, a LLL Leader for over 50 years, is the Founder,
President and CEO of AnotherLook, focusing on educating, raising
critical questions, and providing a clearinghouse and forum for
health professionals and others about HIV and breastfeeding.

The awards will be presented at the Conference during the Founders
Tea. Come share a wonderful time of songs, memories and stories! This
year at the tea we're pleased to include a fashion show to present

Other Alum Conference Opportunities

Your Alumnae Association has been hard at work to make this your most
enjoyable Conference yet. Kick off the Conference with the Thursday
night before "Cruise Lake Michigan," a family affair, on Lake
Michigan. Enjoy the food, the companionship, the magic of the
dazzling lights of Chicago. On Friday, enjoy a private viewing of
mother-baby art in the Print Drawing room at the Art Institute.
Register with Barbara Kopec, [log in to unmask] (adults only).
Start the days with an early morning walk along Lake Michigan's
incomparable shoreline. Take time to visit the Founders Parlor and
chat with Founders. Sign up early for this event. All day long, when
you need that break, rejuvenation activities will be taking place in
the Waldorf and Astoria Rooms. Join us in Connecting Conversations
with fellow Leaders on a variety of topics.

Saturday evening Leaders with 25 years (or more) experience are
invited to share thoughts, memories and triumphs, and experience the
powerful energy that radiates from each other.

On Monday July 23 at 3:00 pm, come for "We Remember," a special time
to remember and honor deceased Leaders who have been a part of the 50
year history of our La Leche League. The Alumnae Auction features
Quilted Art. Don't miss Monday's Gala Celebration Dinner and Closing
featuring special guest performer Billy Dean singing "Let Them Be
Little" as well as other songs. The Alumnae Association will be
selling raffle tickets for two special prizes: the words to "Let Them
Be Little" handwritten by Billy Dean, and two seats at Billy Dean's
table at the Gala Dinner. The Founders will present their special
Founders Award at this event. These activities and more are waiting
just for you at Conference.

We invite you to become a member of the Alumnae Association, which
isn't just for Retired Leaders.
