Thanks to all who gave suggestions for the baby with slow weight gain &
colic. Many had thoughts that this baby was not getting enough to eat.
Considering the history of breasts that were different enough in size that
it necessitated a reduction on one side and the reduction itself those were
excellent considerations and were in the back of my mind as well. But it
seems, at this point, that the baby is sensitive to cow's milk protein. Mom
eliminated cow's milk protein and there was much less crying. On Saturday
she had a cheese sandwich and that night the baby cried again so much that
the Dad got desparate and went out at 10PM at night and bought a can of
Soy(Yuck!)(found at a gas station quickmart!). They gave 2oz to baby. This
gave everyone 5 hours of sleep. Did not get a SNS. Has just nursed except
for the 2oz of soy milk. Baby went from 7lbs 1oz on Thursday to 7lbs 8oz
today. Baby feeding much better today. Going 2 1/2 hours between feeds. Mom
states she is "bursting" now when baby ready to feed. When baby was crying,
she was nursing very frequently. Mom also has increased her caloric intake.
So far so good.

Regarding the baby with the possible Rh incompatibility problem, sounds
like another instance of bf being sacrificed at the alter of ignorance. The
only concern would be that bf jaundice would add to jaundice that occurred
from the hemolysis by anitibodies? If they had an exchange transfusion,
would this minimize jaundice? Rather than say "no" bf, why not help the
mother with bf to prevent the bf jaundice!
