Without knowing the research and literature on this topic, it
sounds logical to me, but there are lots of people who have
ectopic pregnancies who are not nursing and lots of people
who are nursing who have normal pregnancies, so we are talking
about statistical chances of something happening. Those are
the terms in which we speak medically, but it doesn't mean
much for one individual.
On the other hand, if this woman had an enctopic pregnancy
while nursing, then there is at least a chance that this is
the cause, and she should make her decisions accordingly.

We should also note that this doc is not just saying stop
nursing becasue it's easy , but has a reason for his
recommendation that seems grounded in a clear understanding of
the mechanisms at play here. The other possibility is to delay
pregnancy until she has finished nursing. Obviously, that is a
personal decision.
