I commiserate with Rhoda Taylor. Have worked with several women who have
experienced blanching nipples. They deserve all the praise we can give
them. The pain is terrible!

One of my clients has now had THREE babies and is still having blanching.
She manages (prior to onset of menses, when symptoms stop dead!) by mostly
pumping during the day and nursing at night. Keeps babies exclusively
breastmilk-fed if not totally breastfed for many months.

In the cases I have seen, symptoms either disappear completely or
significantly abate with resumption of menses, leading me to believe that
low estrogens are a key to this.

Other ideas gratefully received.

Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
