I normally don't write to the list, but I am writing on behalf of
someone who needs your advice/thoughts and doesn't have access to the
list.

My friend lives in a mid-size city that only has one independent IBCLC.
She just learned that this amazing LC (who is cherished in this
community) is unable to continue in her role. Referrals can be done to
send folks back to the hospitals where the patient has given birth to
see a hospital-based LC, but not all of the hospitals in her community
even have them on staff.

My friend is deeply concerned...where to turn, what to do? She believes
that IBCLC's are important and isn't sure which way to turn. Obviously,
she can do the hospital LC's for some moms and LLL, but she wants to
know what you wise women think/advise.

Thank you for taking the time to help her.
