The mom that wanted the donor milk went to the Ped this afternoon to ask for
a prescription for donor milk from the milk bank. He told her that
breastmilk would not heal the baby's gut, and to drop back to giving 2 bottles a day,
and add 4 meals of baby food ( baby is 5 months old). ARRRGGGHHH!! He did say
he knows nothing about a milk bank or donor milk. So she is still looking
for someone to prescribe donor milk. She did pump this AM (after 3 months of
not pumping) and got enough to cover the bottom of the bottle. That was with a
manual pump. I am going to donate the use of a rental pump to her which my
daughter is driving down to pick up this weekend. They are going to ask the
family practice MD if he knows anything about donor milk, and if he will see the
baby and write the prescription.
She was able to get some more "special formula" and the bleeding vomit has
stopped-now is just "regular" vomit.
I often wonder what would happen if cardiologists gave incorrect and
ignorant information to their patients as often as Peds do.
