Fortunately for the student the book has already been written :-) The
Politics of Breastfeeding by Gabrielle Palmer, 1988. The first chapter is
startling and as true today as 1988. It has been updated and added to in
other books since then. Most recently The Impact of Birthing Practices on
Breastfeeding. By Kroger and Smith.

In looking over the chapter titles tho I see that not much has changed since
1988. It is still about profit :-( Greed/politics drives the system we
have today. Consciously and sub consciously. More money for formula,
exotic brands because baby doesn't tolerate ordinary formula, etc.
At great cost they can sort of duplicate some parts of mother's milk, but it
will never be equal, always inferior.
More sick kids means more money for the HCPs and drug companies. We wrap
it up with a bow and say " mom's choice/mom's right" Oh I have my nasty cap
on today!
and whatever happened to a baby's right for the perfect fluid for life long
health?
