The physical effects (no uterus or ovaries) will not have any effect on
lactation but perhaps she is having other issues from the surgery? DId she
ever get much by pumping? Did she have any engorgement or fullness in the
appropriate time period?
Did she have a large blood loss? I worked with a mom who had a ruptured
uterus, severe hemorrhage and subsequent hyster. It was the sudden blood loss
and its effect on the pituitary which affected her milk supply (Sheehan's
syndrome). Milk never came in, breasts were never engorged, nothing. She
pumped for almost two weeks...only drops of colostrum for a few days. She had
nursed her first child for almost two years and this was heartbreaking to
her.
