Dear friends,

I am sending this note even though I am NO MAIL, because I'm going away for
a few days. It is from a dear colleague who works in a clinic in
Minneapolis. It seems that a friend of hers called about an Exclusively
breastfed 4 month old baby who has croup, whose Dr. has said that the
mother should stop breastfeeding because the "milk will increase the mucus
and cause more complications". Rosy, my old friend, said that as far as
she knew this wasn't true, but she doesn't have any "references"...that
indicate otherwise.

The whole thing sounds like this Dr. doesn't know the difference between
cow's milk and human milk. But I am still ordering my papers after my 5
years away -- and I can't put my hands on any references for her either...

Does someone have any references at fingertips or some kind of devastating
comeback that the mother could give to the Dr. Of course, seeing one's
child with croup is enough to reduce even the bravest mother to following a
Drs. every order.

Please answer her directly at <[log in to unmask]> because I'm not sure that
she is receiving Lactnet currently.
