I was asked by a friend to research treatments for mastitis that do not involve
antibiotics. Her relative is 8 months pregnant, has symptoms of mastitis (hot
red painful breast, flu-like symptoms, fever) and does not believe in using
antibiotics. An archive search gave me three books to recommend, but I
wondered if anyone has personal experience with success in using probiotics
(which she is currently doing) or other natural remedies. I have no experience
in this area and my friend is interested in any wisdom this group can
contribute. Thanks.

Jan Thornton, RNC, IBCLC
